Samsung's 7000 series LED TVs for 2010 feature a new contemporary design thanks to the LED edge lighting. In fact the depth of the unit looked to us to be around the same 1.2 inches in depth from the 2009 model. The big difference that we noticed at CES 2010 in aesthetics was the much smaller bezel/frame which was only about 1 inch on top and sides of the TV screen. On the 7000 series LED TV line the Touch of Color is called "Mystic Earth".
Samsung's proprietary 3D enabled system allows compatibility with multiple 3D formats to provide access to 3D content from many sources. As we note often, the TV will obviously perform regular two dimensional duties, but is enabled for 3D should you introduce some 3D content. We viewed DirecTV 3D enabled content on this series. We noticed some eye straining when the picture changed scenes or programming. We believe this was due more to the content than the TV. See Review

Sony KDL-40EX700 Editor's Choice: Quality
40" LED Television
See our Review The EX700 series contains the Bravia Engine 3, Bravia Sync technology, LED edge lighting, USB ports for photo, music, and video playback. It will also have an ambient sensor technoloy which allows for picture contrast dimming or brightening depending upon room light conditions. The LCD TVs in this series have edge lit LED backlighting for long life and improved blacks. The EX700 series features Sony's Motion Flow 120Hz refresh rate, in past reviews Sony has seemed to have a better handle on this feature than many other manufacturers. This unit promises some of Sony's best value for an LED backlit TV. It will not contain the new monolithic design present on some of the more premium models. The EX700 series does features internet access and Sony's Bravia Internet Video.

Sony has introduced the KDL-46EX700 as a good value proposition with lots of the most updated features that matter such as 120 Hz Motionflow, the new Bravia 3 engine and sleek good looks in just over 2" in depth. There were plenty of weaknesses that were uncovered during testing as well. At $1500 the price point on the KDL-46EX700 is an average value proposition when considering all the competition.

Sharp Aquos LC-52LE820UN
52" LED TV
With the introduction of the LC52LE700UN, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC52LE700UN illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's Ultra Brilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption.

The LE8500 is loaded with extra features and striking good looks. It is the next to highest end TV produced by LG for 2010 falling just below the LE9500 which has the simulated 480Hz rate that I cant imagine makes much difference. We enjoyed testing this high end offering and comment on Picture quality characteristics and almost all of the various features in the full review.
From Robert Wiley in the review: "Color rendition from HD signals is superb and black levels excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the real glass facing of this TV as it helps the picture presentation depth and realism. It does add some glare, but better to have glare and depth as far as we're concerned. Dark shadow detail was good and plenty of light came through during darker scenes."

Samsung's 8000 series LED TVs for 2010 feature 3D capability in a slim, contemporary design thanks to the LED edge lighting. Samsung's proprietary 3D system allows compatibility with multiple 3D formats to provide access to 3D content from many sources.
For 2010 Samsung continues to push the art of television design with new bezels and brushed metal frames along with new Touch of Color choices like "mystic earth". Also feature chrome and other inspired features Samsung aims to make the television a center piece in any room.

Samsung UN32C5000
46" LED Television
Samsung's 5000 series are an entry level line of LED edge lit LCD televisions. They feature a 1080p panel and a 60Hz refresh rate. The red touch of color bezel returns and the included swivel stand is a nice touch. Lacking the internet connectivity of the higher end models as well as the 120Hz AutoMotion features make the 5000 series an affordable way to be an LED TV owner. The edge lighting gives the TV a very slim 1.2" depth that will look great mounted on the wall or on an open stand.

The 4 series LED TVs from Samsung are a line of LED edge lit LCD televisions available in much smaller sizes than previously available Samsung LED TVs. From 32" down to 19" the 4 series puts the improved color and contrast, energy usage and slim construction of LED edge lighting into a smaller package. At 720p resolution these smaller LED televisions will also be very affordable.
Although we believe the benefits from new power reduction usage figures for these TVs are overstated and not very relavant (maybe $1 to $2 a month savings on a 46" LCD) - we'll mention them anyway. For the energy conscious Samsung's 2010 LED TV line up uses green design concepts to meet the more stringent Energy Star 4.0 requirements.
